01 · Challenge

What The System Had To Solve

  • Understand an established native iOS feature quickly enough to preserve its behavior while changing the implementation foundation.
  • Identify platform, rendering, interaction, and integration risks before they could become late delivery surprises.
  • Coordinate clearly across product and engineering groups while maintaining ownership of the complete port.
02 · Approach

How I Approached It

  • Mapped the existing codebase, feature behavior, dependencies, and migration risks before committing to the implementation sequence.
  • Translated the experience into Unity while protecting the user-facing intent of Bay Lens.
  • Kept milestones, technical decisions, and emerging constraints visible to the teams surrounding the work.
03 · Results

What Changed

  • The Bay Lens feature was ported from native iOS to Unity.
  • The work met or exceeded key milestones according to the public recommendation from the direct manager.
  • The engagement produced independent evidence of technical ownership, delivery quality, and collaborative leadership.

Outcome language is drawn from Nick's project record. Where a number is not independently published, the wording identifies it as a portfolio-reported result.

04 · Decision Lens

What The Project Taught Me

Key Decision

Treat the port as a product migration, not a line-by-line translation.

Durable Lesson

A strong platform migration preserves the experience while making the new foundation easier for the next team to understand and extend.

Where It Applies

Useful for product modernization, real-time application migration, XR delivery, and cross-platform engineering.
